Where's spring?

A few weeks ago we had the best weather and then it SNOWED!
I am itching for sunshine and green grass, but it's all snow here.
I made a flower pot slider card, just to brighten things up!
1. Take a quarter fold, landscape card {4 1/4 X 11 inches}  and score it at the 1 1/2, 5 1/2 and 9 1/2 inch marks.
2. Fold the card in half { 5 1/2 mark} and trim the card from the score line to the fold tapering in 1/2 and inch. your excess will look like a triangle on both left and right side.
3.  Use a 2 X 6 inch piece on DP to wrap around the tapered body of the card securing it on the back of the card and creating a "pouch". I suggest leaving 1/4 inch between the fold and the DP.
4. Fold down the scored flaps above you DP. This is the rim of your "flower pot"decorate it as you like. I used 1 1/4 X 4 inch piece of DP and twine. I also stamped and cut out a sentiment for the front.
5. Cut a piece of card-stock 4X5 for this insert and punched the long side with a scalloped edge punch before decorating with flowers.

Recipe:
Tools: paper Trimmer, EK Success. scalloped edge punch,
Paper:
4 1/4 X 11" cardstock,
2 X 6" DP,  1 1/4 X 4"DP
Stamps: "Do Great" Studio G
Embellishments: Flowers and Twine
Ink: Dark purple

Pearly Escapes

Hey Krafty friends!
I made this pearly card with ranger liquid pearls.  Just got the stuff a few weeks ago and MAN it is fun!
This card is based on the CPS160; sketch . I used the "Your Dandy" stamps from Practicing Creativity again...I just can't get enough of them. The beautiful May Arts ribbon is also available at the PCD site.
Here is a close up of the liquid pearl. This shade is called Opal.
I have added a fresh bottle to the blog Candy!
Only, 2 days until the draw.
You can really see the texture of the ribbon too!

Easter+ Kites!

Easter Kite flying is an Eater tradition in some West-indian cultures. The kites are recognized as a symbol of Christ's resurrection. I made this card for my Godmother, we are from Guyana. Almost all of our Family member enjoy kite flying. So Easter gets pretty exciting!
This card is made with the Split-Coast Stamper's sketch this week SC272.
I used the You're Dandy stamp set from Practicing creativity as well as the SU! set Well Scripted.

Back from Spring Break!

Hey there my Kraft friends,
I have been away for a while but with good reason. The family and I took some time to go to Disney World! YEAH! We had a great time together with Grandma and Grandpa. But things happened while I was out of town, wonderful things too! I received an Audrey award from the ladies over at the Cinema Saturday Challenges. Thanks you SO Very VERY Much!
This week the feature film is 13 Going On 30! SO very Funny! You have to watch it, You will have a fun time laughing at Jennifer Gardener's expressions. The challenge is to use geometric shapes.
I chose circles. I also used pink , like the dress in the ad and birthday as a theme.
I used some new stamps. I am SO excited to have from Practicing Creativity! SUPER CUTE!
I also used Laura's Sketch 48 from 2 Sketch 4 You.

Easter card and Fax Lightbox tutorial.

This card is for the a few challenges:
  Pile it on Lucky me Challenge
Cute card thursday Challenge 101 - Ribbon-Tastic!
Clearly iStamp Hip to be square
I want to show you how I took this picture without a Lightbox.
As I mentioned I am focusing on photograph right now. {Shaz's Project 365}
{Don't worry I will still have cards and crafts} I have tried a few ways of making a lightbox but the all seem expensive or flimsy for a house with 4 kids. To get this type of picture I use some house hold items. A chair with armrests a big window and a white curtain.
Here you can see what I used: a toddler chair, a whit linen curtain and a sliding door.
Since I use the sun as my source of light timing is important. I like to take my picture between noon and 4 o'clock. I have turned the yard light on to help but it does not do much. I drape the curtain over the chair to create the "box". I tend to tuck the curtain in the seat of the chair so I can stand my cards.

When I set my card in place  I get really close to the box. I also use a close up feature on my camera to help it focus on the cards. When the image is focused I just click. It looks great every time. I love the detail and the contrast it gives having the white light around the cards.
Let me know if the tutorial was helpful.

Clueless!

Hey all, I have been working on sprucing up the blog. I wanted something BRIGHT! So I took a jump at personalizing the Kraft Nook blog. {Do you like?}
I would like to make it more unique but I had to start somewhere.
I also spent a few hours away from the computer to do some real Krafting. I just loved the Sketch over at Everything but the Kitchen Sink Challenge and the Movie Clueless was Cinema Saturdays Feature film. {LOL What a funny movie!} One of the things this movie embraces is Fashion. It is very obvious with some of the hats and accessories the characters wear. Of course this meant I could Pile It On with the flower challenge too.
Buy it: Lovely Hat {$2}
I am very pleased with the way this hat looks. I cut it free-hand. This card would be perfect for Easter or Mother's day.

Happy Krafting!

Twilight Valentine

Here it is, my first Valentine of the season and it is a Twilight Valentine!
I made this card for a die hard fan of Twilight. She doesn't even know how many times she has read the Twilight saga.  We are talking a person who's read the book 50 or mabey even more times. She really know the whole story.
So, I had to used lines from the books to convince her it was really from her Edward!

Front~~~~~Back
Front says: "My Singer"
Back says: You're nor sleeping, and you're not dead. I am hear and I love you.
 I was also looked for pictures to inspire me. I personally love the Meadow scene. It's so pretty!
The colors for this week Colour Q #14 were great for re-creating the meadow's serene beauty.
The Twilight Tuesday Challenge is for Sparkle! so I placed a sparkle in the flowers.

I would love to hear a Twilighter's view of the my Twilight Valentine?
I also have a little giveaway today so comment HERE for a card kit.

Happy Krafting!

mini basket {Peeps}

Materials:
{2} wide oval punches
{1} 1 1/2" X 6" piece of card-stock
{2} brads small
Glue
1/8" inch hole punch{small hole on Crop-o-dile)
Scalloped edge punch

1. Score the 1 1/2 X 6 inch card-stock on long side half an inch in. Scallop the edge of the long sides of the 1 1/2 X 6 card-stock, save the small strip that is left. {it will be the handle}
2. The side that the sore is closest to will be the bottom. Fold the scallops and curl the piece so it will round the shape of the wide oval with ease.
3. Take 1 of the ovals and put glue close to the edge for the scallops. I found it easiest to glue the edge to the inside if the basket. When you come to the edge it will overlap about 1/4 of an inch.
4. Use the 2nd oval to cover the bottom. I used a lot of glue to secure this part!
5. When your basket is shaped add the handle. Use the pieces left-over from the edging for the handle. To make sure that the handle goes on even I marked the bottom of the oval. Punch a small hole on both sides of the basket as well as the left-over handle.
6. Use the small brads to attach the handle to the basket. The handle will move freely. When you are placing the peep inside the sides are very stick so move the handle aside to keep them tidy.
Please let me know how your mini basket works out.

Happy Easter,
Shaz
